Sub-Zero refrigerators are built for long service lives — they're almost always worth repairing. We service Sub-Zero Classic built-in, Designer integrated and column refrigerators and freezers, PRO 48 units, undercounter models, wine storage and ice makers in Clearwater Beach condos, Belleair homes and across north Pinellas.

Sub-Zero is part of Sub-Zero Group, which also makes Wolf cooking appliances and Cove dishwashers — so the same kitchens often have all three. Sub-Zero built-in refrigerators typically use dual refrigeration: separate sealed systems for the fresh-food and freezer sides. That means a problem on one side doesn't necessarily mean the whole unit is failing.

In coastal Pinellas, salt air and humidity are hard on condensers and electrical connections. Classic Sub-Zero built-ins have a top-mounted condenser behind the grille that collects dust and needs regular cleaning. Many Sub-Zero parts are stocked; specialized boards and sealed-system parts can take a few days. We confirm warranty status before any work, since Sub-Zero's sealed-system coverage often runs longer than the standard warranty.

Common Sub-Zero problems we fix

  • Not cooling or temperature swings

Condenser fans, dirty condenser coils (the top-mounted coil gets dusty fast), evaporator fans, sensors and control boards.

  • Ice maker problems

Water inlet valves, frozen fill tubes and ice-maker assemblies. Low water pressure from a whole-house filter can also cause small or hollow ice.

  • Condenser and electrical corrosion

Salt air on Clearwater Beach and Island Estates corrodes condenser fins and connections faster. Coastal Sub-Zeros need their condenser cleaned more often.

  • Door not sealing or closing

Worn door gaskets, misaligned doors and door closer/hinge issues let warm, humid air in, causing frost and condensation.

  • Frost or ice build-up

A defrost heater, defrost terminator or drain issue — or a door that isn't sealing.

  • Wine storage temperature problems

Fans, sensors and controls on Sub-Zero wine storage units and dual-zone models.

  • Sealed-system failures

Compressor or refrigerant leak issues. Because built-in Sub-Zeros typically have separate fresh-food and freezer systems, a failure on one side doesn't condemn the whole unit. Given the replacement cost of a built-in, sealed-system repair is usually still worth it.

  • Older 500-series units

Many older 500-series Sub-Zeros are still running in Pinellas. They're usually repairable — controls, fans, defrost parts and condensers — though a few parts have been superseded or discontinued. We confirm part availability before quoting.

Manufacturer warranty

If your appliance is still under the manufacturer's warranty, the manufacturer may require its own certified service network for covered repairs. Out of warranty, we repair it directly — and we'll check your warranty status with you before any work.

45-day parts & labor warranty

Every repair carries a 45-day warranty on the parts we install and on our labor.

Sub-Zero repair FAQ

Is it worth repairing an old Sub-Zero?

+

Almost always. Sub-Zeros are designed for long service lives, and even sealed-system repairs are usually cheaper than replacing a built-in and its cabinetry.

Are you a Sub-Zero factory-certified servicer?

+

No. We repair out-of-warranty Sub-Zero units directly. For in-warranty sealed-system work, Sub-Zero may require its factory-certified network.

Why is my Sub-Zero not cooling?

+

Most often a dirty condenser coil or failed condenser fan, followed by evaporator fans, sensors and controls. We check those before suspecting the sealed system.

How often should a Sub-Zero condenser be cleaned?

+

In coastal Pinellas, at least once or twice a year — more if the unit is near the beach or in a dusty kitchen.

Can you get Sub-Zero parts?

+

Yes. Common parts are available quickly; specialized boards and sealed-system parts can take a few days.

Do you also repair Wolf and Cove?

+

We repair Wolf ranges, ovens and cooktops out of warranty. Cove dishwashers can often be serviced too — ask when you book.

Why is my Sub-Zero sweating or frosting around the door?

+

Usually a worn or torn door gasket, a door that's out of alignment, or a door closer that isn't pulling it shut. In humid Pinellas summers, a small gap lets in a lot of moisture. Gaskets and closer adjustments are moderate-cost repairs.
