We repair dishwashers that won't drain, won't clean, leak or won't start — including Bosch, KitchenAid, Whirlpool, GE, Samsung, LG and Miele. Most fixes take under an hour.
Mineral scale is tough on dishwashers, especially in homes on county-supplied water. It clogs spray arms, coats heating elements and wears out inlet valves, so part of every visit is showing you how to keep it from coming back.
A dishwasher is a fill valve, a wash pump, a drain pump, a heater and a control — plus a lot of small holes that can clog. We check the simple causes first, like a blocked filter or a disposal knockout, so you're not paying for a part you don't need. You get a flat written price before work starts, the $79 diagnostic is credited to the repair, and parts and labor are covered for 45 days.
Common dishwasher problems we fix
Water left in the bottom
Clogged filter or sump, a blocked air gap or garbage-disposal knockout, a kinked drain hose or a failed drain pump. Bosch shows E24/E25 for this. A small amount of water in the sump is normal on many models; an inch or more is not.
Dishes not getting clean
Scaled spray arms, a weak wash pump, a failing inlet valve not letting enough water in, or detergent problems made worse by hard water.
Cloudy or gritty film on glasses
In hard water, a white film is usually mineral deposits — it wipes off with vinegar. Permanent cloudiness is etching, often from too much detergent in soft water. Rinse aid, the right detergent amount and a monthly cleaner fix most cases.
Leaking
Worn door gasket, a cracked spray arm, loose hose clamps or a failed pump seal. Bosch's E15 means water is sitting in the base pan, and the float switch has shut the machine down to protect your floor.
Won't fill
A failed water inlet valve, a closed supply valve under the sink, or a stuck float switch that thinks the tub is already full. You'll hear a hum with no water flow if the valve's solenoid has failed.
Won't start
Door latch switch, control board, a tripped GFCI or a blown thermal fuse. Check that child lock or control lock isn't on — it's an easy one to miss.
Not drying
Failed heating element or vent fan, or low rinse aid — especially on condensation-dry models like Bosch, which rely on rinse aid to shed water rather than a heater.
Grinding or humming noises
Glass or a fruit pit caught in the wash or drain pump impeller, or a pump motor wearing out. Clearing debris is often all it needs; a motor that hums without turning usually has to be replaced.

Mineral scale
Water quality varies across Pinellas — Dunedin and much of Clearwater get reverse-osmosis-treated water, while Largo, Palm Harbor and the beaches get the county blend. Either way, use rinse aid, run a dishwasher cleaner monthly, and clean the filter every few weeks to prevent most clogs and cleaning complaints.
Repair or replace?
Pumps, valves and latches are worth repairing. On an entry-level dishwasher over 10 years old with a failed control board or wash motor, replacement is often the better value.
Our repair-or-replace guide →Before you call
- Clean the filter under the bottom spray arm
- If you have a new garbage disposal, make sure the drain knockout was removed
- Run hot water at the sink before starting a cycle
- Check for a tripped GFCI outlet under the sink
- Make sure the control lock or child lock isn't turned on
- Spin the spray arms by hand and poke out any clogged holes with a toothpick

Dishwasher repair FAQ
Why won't my dishwasher drain?
+
Most often a clogged filter or sump, then a blocked air gap or disposal connection, then a failed drain pump. Clean the filter first — if that doesn't fix it, we'll diagnose the rest.
How much does dishwasher repair cost?
+
Most dishwasher repairs run $120–$290 total, including the $79 diagnostic credit. Wash pumps ($260–$450) and control boards ($260–$480) cost more. You get the price in writing first.
Can you fix my dishwasher today?
+
Often same day or next day in Clearwater, Clearwater Beach and Dunedin. Clogs, latches and common drain pumps are usually handled on the first visit; model-specific boards and wash pumps may need to be ordered, typically 1–3 business days.
Do you repair Bosch dishwashers?
+
Yes — Bosch is one of the most common dishwasher brands in Clearwater kitchens. E15 (water in the base), E24 and E25 (drain) are the most frequent codes. We're independent, not Bosch-authorized, so in-warranty repairs should go to Bosch first.
What does Bosch error E15 mean?
+
Water has collected in the base pan and lifted the float switch, so the dishwasher stops to prevent a flood. The real question is where the water came from — a leaking pump seal, hose, door gasket or overflowing suds. Drying the base clears the code, but it'll return until the leak is fixed.
Why are my dishes still dirty after a cycle?
+
Check the filter, the spray arm holes and that you're using rinse aid. In hard water, scale builds inside the spray arms and on the inlet screen, which cuts water flow. If cleaning those doesn't help, the wash pump or inlet valve may be weak.
My dishwasher is still under warranty. Should I call you?
+
Call the manufacturer first. We're an independent repair shop, not factory-authorized for any brand, so in-warranty work belongs with them and should cost you nothing. Once the warranty has run out, we're usually faster to schedule and you'll know the price before we start.
Is it worth repairing a dishwasher?
+
Usually, if it's under about 10 years old or it's a mid- to high-end model like Bosch, KitchenAid or Miele. Drain pumps, valves and latches are reasonable repairs. A control board or wash motor on an entry-level unit is where we'll suggest you compare against a new one.
How do I keep my dishwasher running well?
+
Clean the filter every few weeks, use rinse aid, and run a dishwasher cleaner once a month. Run the kitchen tap until it's hot before starting a cycle. Scrape plates, but don't pre-rinse them spotless — detergent needs some food soil to work properly.
