Washer Repair in Clearwater, FL

  • ✓ $79 diagnostic, credited to the repair
  • ✓ 45-day parts & labor warranty
  • ✓ Same-day & next-day visits
  • ✓ 6+ years repair experience

We repair front-load, top-load, high-efficiency and stacked washers across Clearwater and north Pinellas — including the compact stacked units found in beach condos and Largo's 55+ communities, which a lot of shops would rather not touch.

A modern washer is a computer that controls a pump, a motor, a door lock and a few valves. When one of them fails, the control usually stops the cycle and shows a code rather than risk a flood. That's good news: most washer failures are a single replaceable part, not a dead machine. We read the code, run the washer's own test mode where it has one, and check the part itself before quoting.

Most washer repairs are finished in a single visit with parts from our truck. You'll see the exact price before we start, the $79 diagnostic is credited to the repair, and every repair carries a 45-day parts and labor warranty.

Common washer problems we fix

  • Won't drain or leaves water in the drum

A clogged drain-pump filter (coins, hair ties and socks are the usual culprits), a failed drain pump or a kinked hose. Samsung shows 5C/nd and LG shows OE for this. If the pump hums but water doesn't move, something is jammed in the impeller.

  • Won't spin or clothes come out soaking

Often an unbalanced load, a worn drive belt or motor coupler, a failed lid or door lock, or a drain problem the washer is protecting itself from. Many washers refuse to spin until they've confirmed the drum is empty of water.

  • Leaking

Torn door boot seal on front-loaders, a cracked tub, a loose pump or a failed inlet valve. Front-load boot seals also hold mildew in humid climates. Where the water shows up — front, back or under the middle — narrows it down quickly.

  • Won't start or the door won't unlock

Door lock assemblies fail frequently on modern front-loaders. Also check for a tripped GFCI outlet in laundry rooms and garages.

  • Shaking, banging or walking across the floor

Worn shock absorbers or suspension springs on front-loaders, suspension rods on top-loaders, or shipping bolts never removed after installation.

  • Loud roaring or grinding during spin

A roar that gets louder as the drum speeds up is the classic sign of worn tub bearings, usually because the rear tub seal let water reach them. On front-loaders, check for rust streaks below the drum. It's a big repair, so we'll give you an honest repair-or-replace call.

  • Won't fill or fills slowly

A water inlet valve with a clogged screen or a failed solenoid, a kinked supply hose, or a faulty pressure switch or water-level sensor. Hard water scale on the inlet screens is a frequent cause in Pinellas.

  • Mildew smell

Very common on Florida front-loaders. A cleaning cycle, a clean boot seal and a clear drain filter fix most cases; a moldy seal gets replaced.

  • Too many suds or a suds error

Regular detergent in an HE washer, or simply too much HE detergent, creates foam the machine can't drain properly. Samsung displays Sud for this. Often the fix is a few rinse cycles and less soap, not a part.

Water minerals and humidity

Minerals in water build up on inlet valves and heaters over time — more so in homes on county-supplied water than in Dunedin or the parts of Clearwater served by reverse-osmosis-treated city water. Leave front-load doors cracked open after each wash and clean the drain filter every month or two — it prevents most of the calls we get.

Repair or replace?

Pumps, locks, valves and belts are almost always worth fixing. A failed transmission or tub bearing on a top-loader over 10 years old usually isn't, and we'll tell you that before you spend money.

Our repair-or-replace guide →

Before you call

  • Reset a tripped GFCI outlet in the laundry room or garage
  • Make sure both water valves behind the washer are fully open
  • Clean the drain-pump filter (front-load: small door at bottom front)
  • Run a single item load to rule out an unbalanced load
  • Write down any error code on the display
  • Unplug the washer for one minute to reset the control, then try a rinse-and-spin cycle
  • Check that the drain hose isn't pushed too far down the standpipe or kinked behind the machine

45-day parts & labor warranty

Every repair carries a 45-day warranty on the parts we install and on our labor.

Washer repair FAQ

How much does washer repair cost?

+

Most washer repairs run $140–$360 total, including parts, labor and the $79 diagnostic credit. Control boards ($280–$520) and drive motors ($320–$560) run higher. You get the exact price before work starts.

Can you fix my washer the same day?

+

Often, yes. Drain pumps, door locks, inlet valves and belts are common enough that we try to carry them, so many washers are fixed on the first visit. If your model needs a part we don't stock, we'll order it and come back, typically within 1–3 business days.

Why won't my washer drain?

+

Start with the drain-pump filter on a front-loader — it catches coins, hair ties and small socks. If the filter is clear, the drain hose may be kinked or the pump has failed. A pump that hums without moving water is usually jammed; one that's silent may have burned out.

Do you repair stacked washer-dryer units in condos?

+

Yes. Compact and full-size stacked units in Clearwater Beach high-rises and Largo condos are part of everyday work for us. If your building needs a vendor insurance certificate before we arrive, we'll send it ahead of time.

My washer shows an error code. What does it mean?

+

Our error code guides cover the most common Samsung, LG and Whirlpool washer codes. Many drain and fill codes can be fixed without a service call.

How long does a washer repair take?

+

Most are finished in 45–90 minutes in one visit. If a part has to be ordered, it typically arrives in 1–3 business days.

Should I repair or replace my washer?

+

If it's under about 10 years old and the problem is a pump, lock, valve, belt or suspension, repair is almost always the better value. Worn tub bearings or a cracked spider arm on an older front-loader, or a failed transmission on an older top-loader, is where replacement starts to make sense. We'll give you the number and let you decide.

How do I stop my front-load washer from smelling?

+

Leave the door and detergent drawer open between loads, wipe the boot seal dry, and run the tub-clean cycle monthly. Use HE detergent and less of it than the cap suggests. Clean the drain-pump filter every month or two, since standing water there is a common source of the smell.

Was my washer damaged by storm flooding?

+

If floodwater reached the motor, control board or pump — common in ground-floor garages after Helene and Milton in 2024 — have it inspected before you run it. Salt water corrodes electrical parts quickly, and a washer that was submerged is usually not worth repairing. We'll tell you honestly after a look.
