LG Dryer Error Codes: d80, d90, d95, tE1, nP, PS & More
LG dryers are good at telling you when something's wrong — especially with airflow. The d80, d90 and d95 codes come from LG's Flow Sense system and show roughly how restricted the exhaust vent is. Most of the other codes point to power supply, sensors or the door.
Exhaust restriction — Flow Sense has detected the vent is about 75%, 80%, 90% or 95% blocked.
tE1 / tE2 / tE3
Thermistor error — a temperature sensor reading is out of range. tE2 typically appears in cold conditions or during steam cycles.
nP
No power at the heater — the dryer isn't detecting current at the heating element.
PS
Power supply wiring error — improper voltage in the power cord.
dE
Door error — the door isn't fully closed.
HS
Humidity sensor error — cycles may run up to about 2.5 hours.
GAS
Gas models — the dryer isn't receiving gas.
PF
Power failure — the cycle was interrupted by a power outage.
d80 / d90 / d95 / d75 — Exhaust restriction
Exhaust restriction — Flow Sense has detected the vent is about 75%, 80%, 90% or 95% blocked.
Common causes
Lint build-up in the vent duct
Crushed or kinked vent hose behind the dryer
Vent run too long or with too many bends
Blocked outside vent hood
Try this first
✓Clean the lint filter
✓Pull the dryer out and straighten or replace a crushed vent hose
✓Check the outside vent flap opens freely
When to call: The dryer will still run, but drying takes longer and parts run hot. Long condo vent runs often need a professional cleaning.
tE1 / tE2 / tE3 — Thermistor error
Thermistor error — a temperature sensor reading is out of range. tE2 typically appears in cold conditions or during steam cycles.
Common causes
Failed thermistor
Loose sensor wiring
For tE2, cold air or extra moisture cooling the duct
Try this first
✓Unplug, hold Start/Pause for 5 seconds and restore power
✓For tE2, clean the lint filter and check the vent
When to call: If tE1 or tE3 keeps returning, the thermistor or its wiring needs to be tested and replaced.
nP — No power at the heater
No power at the heater — the dryer isn't detecting current at the heating element.
Common causes
A tripped half of the 240V breaker
Loose power cord connection
Outlet or household wiring problem
Try this first
✓Reset the dryer breaker (off for at least 10 seconds, then on)
✓Make sure the power cord is fully plugged in
When to call: If resetting the breaker doesn't fix it, the outlet or wiring needs a licensed electrician; if the power checks out, we'll test the dryer side.
PS — Power supply wiring error
Power supply wiring error — improper voltage in the power cord.
Common causes
Power cord wires reversed at the dryer's terminal block (often after a new cord install)
Outlet wiring problem
Try this first
✓None — switch off the breaker and don't use the dryer until the wiring is checked
When to call: Miswired cords are a safety hazard. Have the cord connection and outlet checked before running the dryer again.
dE — Door error
Door error — the door isn't fully closed.
Common causes
Clothing caught in the door
Lint filter not seated properly
Damaged door or door switch
Try this first
✓Reseat the lint filter
✓Clear the door opening and close the door firmly
When to call: A failed door switch is a quick, inexpensive repair.
HS — Humidity sensor error
Humidity sensor error — cycles may run up to about 2.5 hours.
Common causes
Dryer-sheet or fabric-softener residue on the sensor bars
Failed sensor or wiring
Try this first
✓Wipe the metal sensor bars below the lint filter with a damp cloth and let them dry
When to call: If clean sensor bars don't fix it, the sensor circuit needs testing.
GAS — Gas models
Gas models — the dryer isn't receiving gas.
Common causes
Gas shut-off valve closed
Kinked gas supply line
Gas service interrupted
Try this first
✓Make sure the gas valve behind the dryer is fully open and the line isn't kinked
When to call: If you ever smell gas, don't run the dryer or operate switches — leave the house and call your gas utility from outside.
PF — Power failure
Power failure — the cycle was interrupted by a power outage.
Common causes
Outage or brief power interruption (common during Florida summer storms)
Try this first
✓Unplug the dryer, hold Start/Pause for 5 seconds, plug it back in and restart the cycle
When to call: No service needed unless PF appears without any power interruption.
How to reset
LG's reset: unplug the dryer, press and hold Start/Pause for 5 seconds, then plug it back in and try again. If the code returns, the cause is still there.
